My name is Beth Budny. I have been an active parishioner of St. Jude’s since 1981. My children made their First Communions and Confirmations here. My husband had his funeral Mass here. I taught religious education for 19 years and I have been St. Jude’s Parish Nurse since 2011.
I retired from the VA Boston Healthcare System after 36years where I worked initially in acute spinal cord injury, then in long-term care and mental health.
I received my Bachelor’s in Nursing from Boston College and my Master’s in Rehabilitation Nursing from Boston University. I have a certificate in Faith Community Nursing.
I visit the homebound; am a reference source about the many health agencies available to the elderly and sick; and focus on the spiritual and emotional wellness of parishioners. I am a Eucharistic Minister to them as well.
I do NOT prescribe or supply medications nor give injections or immunizations. I do NOT replace medical assistance already ordered by one’s primary care physician.
My focus is on the spiritual and emotional needs of parishioners, which holistic health calls an integral part of healthcare today. Holistic health also focuses on prevention and includes self-care. Our obligation is to preserve our wellness as much as possible. I also assist the whole parish by keeping us informed about the various resources/services available locally to us all.
